Newsy.com compiles video news, provides interaction

NewscastStudio has discovered the beta version of Newsy.com, a video-based news Web site is live.

The beta, (UPDATE – The beta has now been passworded), offers video compilations that provide overviews on specific news stories or subjects. An in-studio anchor provides narration over video clips from TV news outlets and then offers the chance to comment.

Sporting a large video player reminiscent of Hulu, Newsy.com adds the unique touch of displaying the logos of its source material to the left. The site also boats full transcripts of each video segment and links to related news articles and blog posts.

The site is grouped by broad topics such as detailed as the financial crisis and John McCain as well as broader ones such as “World.”

Similar to many other online video news programs, Newsy.com uses a simple chroma keyed background and large, legible on-screen graphics.

The does require a simple registration.
