’60 Minutes’ launches Chrome app

CBS News has launched a Web app for Chrome, Google’s Web browser, centered around the network’s newsmagazine “60 Minutes.”

The new app, which is available for free in the Google Chrome Web Store, has launched featuring the broadcast’s interview with Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson.

Through the app, which makes use of HTML5, CSS3 and other emerging Web technologies, users can browse video and other content related to the show’s topics.

CBS News touts the new app as “evolving distribution of news video beyond a conventional Web page,” in an interview with Beet.tv. He described the app as more “TV-like,” watching video in “high fidelity.”
