Memphis station moves to new set

WREG-TV, the CBS affiliate in Memphis, Tenn. debuted its reworked newsroom set from FX Group yesterday.

The new project involved converting the station’s newsroom and the removal of the existing anchor desk, which was donated to a local university.

The station’s previous newsroom was dominated by blue, white and red, while the new look uses faux brickwork, blues and warmer browns and tans.

A key part of the new look was covering the opening to the weather center with a large, curved backlit wall with printed graphics. To one side of this, a small weather presentation area was installed. Meanwhile, the anchor desk was converted to a smaller, two person setup that uses the large curved wall as part of its primary background.

Two additional areas include a standup and sports area with a video wall and an interview set.
