‘Social7’ to give viewers full control of newscast

Seattle’s KIRO-TV will air a social show tonight that has been ” named, planned and even given a time slot by the audience over social media.” Users will contribute live via social media to influence the direction and content of the show.

This is not the stations first social broadcast, earlier this year, it launched “Connect with Jenni Hogan.”

LostRemote notes, “Social TV shows aren’t always easy to pull off — several stations have tried and failed — and KIRO seems to be taking an aggressive, yet experimental approach to figuring out the right balance of engaging TV and interactivity.”

LR has a complete view with KIRO-TV news director  Todd Mokhtari for more details on how the station is using social.
