ESPN creates festive sports content for Christmas

Every Christmas, networks roll out special holiday-themed background entertainment, originating with the famous Yule Log on WPIX-TV in New York City.

This season, ESPN will continue its tradition of sporting up the day with a variety of options.

On ESPN2, ESPN Films’ “30 for 30” will play non-stop for 24 hours of documentaries, while the SEC Network will feature a sports themed yule log with college fight songs.

ESPNU will launch a new holiday tradition this year with Mike Golic Jr. eating Christmas cookies and Longhorn Network goes to “BEVO’s Home for the Holidays.”

The main ESPN and ABC will air NBA action on Christmas, with five games between the networks.
