Texas NBC adds ‘Lightning Truck’

In addition to the Texas Lightning Truck and the Texas Thunder Truck, the station also has the Texas Storm Ranger 2.0 mobile radar vehicle and Texas Sky Ranger helicopter, which it collectively refers to as “Storm Fleet.”

All of these are featured in a longer spot set to a custom song inspired by the “Rawhide” theme by the same name that features the memorable “rollin’, rollin’, rollin'” line that also inspired Walmart’s “rollback” commercials.

NBC DFW’s version of the song features lines such as “”Searchin, scannin’, trackin'” and “keep that S-band crackin’,” the latter of which refers to the station’s radar system.

The station released a full cut of the song, along with more footage of the weather fleet, complemented with other vehicles from its fleet, taken from the same shoot.

Not surprisingly, the “rollin'” theme is used heavily in the music video, which is dominated by footage of the trucks zooming around a track and over seemingly rugged terrain — as the chopper flies overhead.

The promo also features boxed “logos” for each vehicle as well as the use of white frames and oversized white text.

Both promos also incorporate the station’s “Texas Connects Us” tagline.
