NeuLion’s MainConcept enables HEVC encoding with Nvidia technology

NeuLion announced this week ahead of the 2018 NAB Show that its subsidiary MainConcept is enabling hardware video encoding using Nvidia NVENC technology in the 9th generation of its MainConcept HEVC/H.265 SDK.

“Enabling access to HEVC/H.265 video encoding in hardware allows our customers to continue working in the well-known MainConcept environment with its rich portfolio of multiplexers and auxiliary components, while benefiting from the computational power of the Nvidia GPUs,” said Deacon Johnson of MainConcept. “Using Nvidia GPUs for HEVC/H.265 encoding increases server density for processing multiple video streams on one system while still having enough CPU cycles available for customer applications.”

The MainConcept HEVC/H.265 Video Encoder now provides access to hardware encoding on Nvidia GPUs through the well-known and robust MainConcept API.

“With NVENC available in MainConcept’s SDK, customers of Nvidia GPUs — on their own servers or in supported cloud platforms — will benefit from all-in-one capabilities that combine hardware and software HEVC encoding with the streaming and packaging tools available in MainConcept’s product portfolio,” says Bob Pette of Nvidia.

The MainConcept HEVC/H.265 SDK version 9.0 is available now.
