Promax|BDA has set its 2009 conference for June 16-18, an event that will center around the theme “Leading the Marketing & Design Economy,” an appropriate title given the current struggles facing the industry.

Promax|BDA is the world’s largest television marketing conference attracting industry leaders and executives from top television networks, cable channels, local stations, station groups, distribution, syndication, media and creative agency, design and emerging media.

The conference is currently accepting proposals for speakers and presenters. An online application is available on the Promax Web site.

Promax|BDA has struggled in recent years as trade show attendence slumped across the board, according to several articles on the group. The organization was also the subject of a public 2007 outster of CEO Jim Chabin. Chabin had, at the time, proposed to take the nonprofit group private by having it contract out with a newly formed for-profit company that Chabin would run, according to a Broadcasting & Cable article. Chabin then offered to resign and was eventually replaced.

On an overall note, many trade show executives for the television industry are anxious over how the weak economy will affect attendance in 2009, with all companies, media ones in particular, cutting back on expenses such as travel, training, professional memberships and conference registrations.
