Beat the Traffic a finalist in the Red Herring 100

Chyron goes social with new products
Chyron announced new some products at NAB, via B&C:
Chyron has introduced its new Engage platform. It provides users with a way of integrating second screen, social media and social TV data into live TV broadcasts as part of their existing Chyron graphics systems and workflow for news and sports.
“Social media is a natural for sports because everyone wants to give their opinion of the referee after a big call,” Wellesley-Wesley added.
In addition, Chyron also announced the launch of Shout, a stand-alone software application that enables broadcasters to bring social media commentary into their live broadcasts quickly and easily.
FX Design Group to showcase augmented reality sets at NAB
FX Design Group and DeSisti Lighting have partnered together to present an Augmented Reality Set in the DeSisti booth C6037 at the NAB Show. This Augmented Reality Set will feature a high-tech desk backed by a digital (static virtual) background designed by the FX to showcase both FX’s designs and DeSisti’s lighting gear.
The growing use of the at home studio
The Washington Post has an article talking about the newest trend in cable news punditry, studios at home.
While these studios may not have multiple cameras, a jib, an interactive touch screen, etc., they provide quick and affordable access to pundits. Many of these studios are powered by Cisco, using its TelePresence technology.
Harris to debut new live graphics platform at NAB
Harris Corporation will introduce two new systems for live broadcast graphics during the 2012 NAB Show.
In a press release, Harris notes, “The new Inscriber G8 and TitleOne AE real-time graphics production systems share a design philosophy that leverages next-generation hardware platforms for advanced graphics processing and increased storage performance — maximizing ease of use and operational efficiency. Both support proven, mature graphics production workflows for off-line and on-air graphics creation, graphics template and database management, and automation control.”
Chryon partners with German firm for live graphics solutions
Chryon has announced a partnership with German company Ventuz Technology AG to boost its line of realtime, live, interactive graphics.
Atlanta station partners with Beat the Traffic for custom app
WSB-TV Channel 2 and Beat the Traffic have teamed up to launch a WSB-TV Traffic App, available for free in the iTunes App Store.
“The new app is loaded with useful tools for Atlanta drivers.” said Tim McVay, vice president and general manager of Channel 2 WSB-TV. “It gives you instant access to location-based, interactive traffic maps, current travel times, and traffic jam warnings to avoid delays.”
“The wsbtv.com Traffic App delivers fast, accurate, traffic warnings and puts a network of traffic cameras at your fingertips,” said Mark Arum, triple team traffic reporter on Channel 2 Action News. “It adds one more way Channel 2 Action News and Triple Team Traffic keep you totally up to date with Atlanta’s ever changing traffic.”
Vizrt to showcase newest upgrades during NAB in Las Vegas
At NAB 2012, Vizrt, will showcase its latest advances in live graphics, channel branding, video editing, interactive content, multi-platform distribution, live sports and graphics analysis. Vizrt will exhibit in Booth SL5605 during the NAB 2012 convention, being held from April 14-19th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
CNN applies for ‘Magic Wall’ trademark

CNN has applied to trademark the term “Magic Wall” to describe interactive touchscreens used to present stories.
Beat the Traffic to add live video, courtesy of TrafficLand
Beat the Traffic will incorporate TrafficLand’s video feeds into its Beat the Traffic 3D solution for media partners.
Effective January 1st, 2012, this partnership will allow broadcasters nationwide to supplement their traffic reports with live traffic video in addition to other real-time traffic information.
IntoNow to power ABC debate polls
For this weekends ABC News Presidential Debate, Yahoo’s IntoNow will power the polling through its app.
The app will allow for real-time feedback for candidates and questions asked. This also marks one of the first outings for the new ABC News/Yahoo! partnership.
