615 Music composes custom package for WSB-TV

615 Music has updated their site with a new packaged called “Coverage.” It appears the package is composed for WSB-TV, the Atlanta ABC affiliate. We cannot confirm if this package has debuted on WSB-TV as of yet, but currently the NMSA lists WSB-TV as still using News 2000 by Music Partners.
The package uses a rock and percussion base and features 16 themes and over 900 cuts. The package draws heavily on big percussion beats and then a rock theme with orchestral stabs emerge. With 16 themes, this package has many many variations and sounds different than recent 615 Music work.
WPBF-TV debuts new newscenter

WPBF-TV, the ABC affiliate serving West Palm Beach, has debuted an updated newsroom and set designed by FX Group. The new look uses the bones of the newsplex originally designed by BDI, but with substantial changes to colors, materials and technology.
The design appears to be a breakthrough style for FX Group and a big departure from the usual Hearst-Argyle set designs seen recently at WPBF-TV’s sister stations across the country. Light wood toned arches create a vaulted feel to newsroom, creating a unique look that may have been inspired by the ABC logo’s globe shape. The arches also feature lighted elements on the inner surface, creating a great sense of depth and added visual interest to these architectural features.

Screen grabs of new ‘Today’ graphics posted

We’ve posted screen captures from NBC’s new “Today Show” graphics package.
ESPN LA photos added

We’ve added some photographs from the ESPN Los Angeles set, including the unique one seen above.
These photos were contributed by the set’s fabricator, Lexington Design+Fabrication, and we’re glad they included this behind-the-set view. We’re so used to seeing the front side of sets but the backs are often just as interesting as they provide a glimpse at just how some of the eye-catching effects are achieved, in this case by designer Jack Morton/PDG.
That’s not to say the front of the ESPN L.A. isn’t either and we have several photographs of studio and set that do a great job of showcasing this colorful set that’s designed to blend with the main ESPN SportsCenter set in Bristol, Conn.
