‘World News’ debuts sleek new home
ABC New’s “World News” has debuted a new set by Jack Morton.
The new set creates more intimate shots between anchor Diane Sawyer and on-set reporters, a pivotal element that Sawyer brought to the newscast, as creates a lighter, more airy feel.
ABC News prepping redesigned ‘World News’ set

Via TVNewser, ABC News is currently hard at work on an updated set for “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.”
TVNewser writes that “we have heard that the construction will increase the functionality of the studio ten-fold.”
The set was still rather new, and had recently been refreshed when Diane Sawyer debuted in December 2009.
The updated set is expected to debut next week.

Curry almost ‘hit’ by some graphics

The network evening newscasts are under way in the eastern and central time zones, so we’ll take a quick look at what’s going on.
“NBC Nighlty News” utilized the network’s 3D environment system featuring Ann Curry with exit polling data.
When Ann tossed back the anchor desk, Brian Williams quipped about how some of the graphics almost hit Ann, garnering a smirk from Curry.
ABC News pushes up HD debut
ABC News has decided to move up its HD debut from the previously scheduled September 8 to today.
“On Aug. 25, World News with Charles Gibson and Nightline start broadcasting in 720-line progressive (720p) HD, first from the Democratic National Convention in Denver, then from the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul the following week.
And like the other networks, ABC News will also broadcast both conventions in HD for the first time.” (more…)
ABC World News to go HD
ABC World News will begin broadcasting in HD in September.
ABC World News will be the third and final network nightly news program to launch in HD. Their launch will come just weeks after CBS’s and over a year after NBC’s.
“For those keeping score at home, last night’s HD debut makes CBS the second network to launch a high-definition evening news broadcast. ‘The NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams’ has been high-def since March 2007″ wrote Philadelphia Daily News.
An ABC spokesperson said ABC World News will launch sometime during the week of Sept. 8.
With a new set and graphics package in place, expect ABC’s HD launch to be a quite one.
