Seeing triple

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

It’s not uncommon to see the same stories on all three network newscasts, even at the same time.

But last night was rather strange — the same person in the same room at the exact same time — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama being interviewed by Brian Williams, Charles Gibson and Katie Couric.

The screen grabs that follow were all taken with 10 seconds of 6:32 p.m. eastern time. By the way, NBC’s interview with Obama ran slightly longer than ABC and CBS.

Election on the Web

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

The Web is also playing a big role in Election 2008 coverage (this is the 21st century after all) and the battle is just a fierce between news organizations to see who can provide the best coverage.

Super Tuesday: CBS

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

CBS is now beginning its coverage.  For CBS, its main talent is sitting at the updated evening news desk with the “sports scoreboard” behind them.  Also, alot of election graphics have popped up all over the studio.  CBS is also using a monitor with touch capabilities off to the side, more where the interview area is on the Evening News set.

It will be intersting to see how much interactive technology they have compared to CNN.

CBS Evening News Updates

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

The CBS Evening News has updated its set to get prepared for Super Tuesday and the upcoming election season. The new updates include a revised, wider desk, and a monitor structure to display lots of information. The monitors almost make an arena scoreboard type display.

The set looks very odd, and might have been done in house. It will be interesting to see how the film it, especially the part behind the desk.

CBS changes

Friday, January 11th, 2008

It looks as if Susan McGinnis will be leaving CBS, as reported by TVNewser. I remember many times where I was up late, working, and nothing as on, but news. Susan and the CBS Morning News team would provide the live updates. I wonder where she is off to? What do you think of this departure?

I always felt as if Susan would work up the later at CBS, but I guess she is off, maybe to a cable outlet.
