SetStudio updated with new WRC-TV photos

We’ve added new photos of Washington D.C.’s NBC affiliate, WRC-TV, to SetStudio.
The new photos, courtesy of Clickspring Design, show more of the set and are high quality.

WRC-TV, the Washington D.C. NBC affiliate, has launched newscasts in high definition.
Along with the change to HD, the station has debuted a new set designed by Clickspring Design and built by blackwalnut.
WRC-TV to debut sleek new set with move to HD

Washington D.C.’s NBC affiliate, WRC-TV, will soon launch its news in HD with a modern new set.
The set is expected to be a major change for WRC-TV, moving away from its dated set with wood and glass blocks seen above. The new look includes metal, colorful walls, a large rear projection screen and many other modern elements that are similar to those seen at MSNBC and sister station WCAU-TV in Philadelphia.
Look for the HD debut sometime in the next few weeks.

Via TV Technology, CNN is putting the final touches on its new Atlanta studios.
Continue reading for some stats and facts about the new studio, part of CNN’s HD changeover. The entire network should be completely HD by fall.
CNN set photos show test colors only
A quick update about the new CNN set: The pastel colors, which we discussed in our analysis of the set earlier this week, were only being used to used to test the lighting systems, a Clickspring Design spokesperson tells NewscastStudio. The actual colors that will be used on the set will be different and richer. No debut date has been announced for the new studio.
Winner of ‘Best Set of 2009′ announced

WPBF-TV, the ABC affiliate serving West Palm Beach, Fla., has won the first NewscastStudio “set of the year” contest by a large margin.

2009 was a challenging year for the television news business and it’s no question that was reflected in the set design industry.
Combined with the bad economy and end of the first wave of HD newscast conversions, there were significantly less sets going in around the country.
Clickspring awarded Emmy for CNN election set

Clickspring Design’s work for the CNN 2008 U.S. Presidential Election coverage was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in scenic design. The News & Documentary Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in news and documentary programming by conferring annual awards of merit.
Clickspring wins Gold BDA for CNN election set

During the recent Promax|BDA awards, Clickspring Design was honored for its CNN Election set design.
CNN charged Clickspring with realizing two primary objectives for election coverage. First: to communicate unassailable editorial expertise. The headline “CNN = Politics” established an equation for all design and production related to the election season.
The secondary objective was to create a branded alignment between multiple events — twelve debates, five primaries and election night. Developing live events with audiences ranging from 200 to 2,000 in size, and addressing the realities of live video production — two very different lenses — needed careful synchronization.
Fox Business Studio G added to SetStudio

We’ve added exclusive photos from Clickspring’s latest set, Fox Business’s Studio G. The studio is located on the second floor of Charles Schwabb offices on Avenue of the Americas in downtown New York City.
The studio uses a mix reds and grays to create a modern perch above the city streets. The set also features a “vault” door and many money and banking refrences.
Additional photos of WCAU set added

We recently heard from our friends at Clickspring Design, the folks behind WCAU-TV’s new set as well as the combined NBC-MSNBC newsroom in Rockfeller Center. They provided us with some professional photos of the WCAU set in Philadelphia, which have been added to the photo gallery here (click to the second page to see them).
New set firm springs into new designs
Though a new firm, Clickspring Design is backed by experienced designs who have created many high-profile sets at some of the biggest names in television.
According to the firm’s Web site, the firm places emphasis on “experiential design” that is defined as “dimensionalizing client-specific content and communication objectives through environmental design.”
