Columbus station readies ‘NBC 4 On the Square’

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

wcmh.gifColumbus’ NBC affiliate, and former NBC O&O, WCMH-TV is prepping for its post-Memorial Day launch of “NBC 4 On the Square.”

This new HD studio, located in downtown Columbus, will play host to the station’s morning, noon and new hour-long 4 p.m. newscast. The station is sliding “Ellen” to 3 p.m. to accommodate the new show.

The station has been promoting the new studio heavily and has a special section of its Web site devoted to the debut. Interestingly, the station still lists Andy Dominiani as morning co-anchor despite the fact he was laid off this week in the wake of the first of several staff reduction moves at Media General, the station’s owner.

The new set is designed by FX Group, who also designed the station’s studio set, which debuted in HD earlier this year. Watch NewscastStudio Tuesday for a look inside the new digs.
