WeatherPlus.com redesigns

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Courtesy of the Online Design Digest blog, NBC has rolled out a new look for WeatherPlus.com. The new design features a light blue background with individual content modules topped by dark blue headers.

Internal content has also been better organized and now features some nifty dynamic effects.

The site’s navigation now features drop-down menus that have dashed outlines that make them look oddly like coupons.

It will be interesting to see how this new direction for WeatherPlus.com plays into NBC Universal’s planned acquisition of the Weather Channel, which includes the hot domain Weather.com.

Edgy, modern sets forte at Blyth

Friday, April 11th, 2008

nabpreviewicon.jpg Blyth Design is a small firm that creates sets with big impact.

With a portfolio stocked with work for Fox, Blyth’s style is hallmarked by liberal use of metals, backlit surfaces and bold shapes.

Blyth sets can be found at almost every major Fox O&O station in the county, as well as News Corporation’s flagship Fox News Channel. Though there are slight variations from station to station, the standard Fox O&O set features a trapezoid-shaped duratran opening behind the anchor desk, blurred monitor walls, thick beveled columns and curved tri-plasma arrays.
