Matrox Video introduces IPMX-ready video encoders and decoders
Matrox Video announced the release of the Matrox Maevex MGX Series, a new line of IPMX-ready video encoders and decoders with USB support. The series is designed to deliver 4K60 audio-video over IP distribution at one twentieth the bitrate of most other professional AV codecs.
The Maevex MGX Series targets enterprise AV, control rooms, and medical environments where network efficiency is essential. The product line aims to provide high image quality and ultra-low latency while using significantly less bandwidth. This reduction in bandwidth can help reduce network congestion, simplify infrastructure, increase streaming capacity by up to 20 times on the same network, and potentially avoid costly network upgrades.
The series supports both IPMX and Matrox IQ Mode, which can be used independently or simultaneously to accommodate different workflow needs. When used between compatible Matrox Video devices, Matrox IQ Mode can achieve latency as low as one frame.
The Maevex MGX Series allows a single input to stream simultaneously to multiple outputs and formats, including IPMX, RTSP, MPEG-TS, and SRT. The product line includes single- and dual-channel models: the Maevex MGX E1 and E2 encoders and the Maevex MGX D1 and D2 decoders. Some models, including the MGX E2, D1, and D2, offer multiview and compositing features for combining and managing multiple sources on encoding and decoding sides.
The series supports H.265 4:4:4 for high-fidelity 4K60 video with accurate color reproduction and detail, as well as H.265 4:2:0 and H.264 4:2:0 to suit a range of AV-over-IP workflows and network requirements. The design emphasizes ultra-low latency to support real-time interaction and control.
Integrated USB support allows connection of keyboards, mice, and webcams, enabling remote workstation access, desktop capture, and interactive collaboration workflows. This feature extends the MGX Series beyond traditional streaming by supporting real-time interaction with distributed content.
Ron Berty, business development manager at Matrox Video, said the Maevex MGX Series offers flexibility in designing interoperable AV-over-IP systems without compromising quality, latency, or bandwidth. He noted the product line aligns with Matrox Video’s focus on addressing technology challenges.
The Maevex MGX Series is positioned for use in control rooms, enterprise video distribution, medical environments, and unified communication and collaboration settings where performance, efficiency, and interoperability are important.
The Matrox Maevex MGX Series is available for order and shipping worldwide.
