NBC Sports announced that Zac Brown Band will headline the new show open for its “Sunday Night Baseball” franchise, debuting April 12.
The open, featuring a reimagined rendition of a rock classic, was filmed at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, and is designed to highlight the tradition and spectacle of Major League Baseball. The company said the open will air each Sunday night throughout the season.
The debut will lead into the Cleveland Guardians-Atlanta Braves game at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
Viewers will see a preview of the show open during the Arizona Diamondbacks-Los Angeles Dodgers game on March 26, as well as during the first two Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts on March 29 and April 5.
“We are excited for Zac Brown Band to join the star-studded marquee of show open performers on NBC’s first-of-its kind, year-round Sunday night sports franchise,” said Tripp Dixon, NBC Sports Creative Director.
“Nothing is more American than baseball. Bringing energy and people together which is exactly what we try to capture in our music,” said Zac Brown. “Getting to be part of ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ and put our own spin on a classic for fans across the country is something we’re really proud of.”
NBC Sports’ MLB coverage begins March 26 with a doubleheader, including the Los Angeles Dodgers raising their World Series banner ahead of a matchup against the Arizona Diamondbacks in primetime.
“Sunday Night Baseball” expands NBC’s lineup of weekly primetime sports programming, joining “Sunday Night Football” and “Sunday Night Basketball” as part of a year-round strategy.
