NBC News Now adds morning program anchored by Christine Romans

NBC News will expand its weekday streaming lineup Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, with the launch of “Current with Christine Romans,” a two-hour morning program focused on breaking news, politics, business and the global economy.

The program will stream weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon ET on NBC News Now, following the opening of the U.S. financial markets and as major stories develop throughout the morning.

The two-hour block replaces late morning blocks of “Morning News Now,” which will continue to stream from 7 to 10 a.m. ET. “Morning News Now” uses a rolling production model that mixes live anchored news with repeats of select blocks and segments, though it can forgo airing taped content in the event of breaking news.

Romans, NBC News’ chief business correspondent, will anchor coverage of domestic and international news while examining how developments in government, finance and technology could affect viewers. The program will also include reporting on artificial intelligence and other emerging business and economic issues.

“This is a moment to tell stories only the way that NBC News can, with our vast resources and our bureaus around the world,” Romans said in a statement. “We’ll explain what’s happening, why it matters, and how decisions made in the halls of power around the world and on Wall Street affect people at the kitchen table.”

Romans said that approach will serve as the framework for the program’s coverage.

“Current” will also introduce a recurring franchise called “50 States in 50 Days,” which will work with NBC-owned stations and network affiliates to highlight local responses to national challenges.

Planned reports include examinations of Cleveland, Ohio’s foster care system; the expansion of data centers in Iowa; a community kitchen in Washington state; and housing conditions in Connecticut.

Kerrie Wudyka will serve as executive producer of the program.

The addition extends NBC News Now weekday live programming schedule, which runs from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET. NBC News says the streaming service recorded its largest audience to date in 2025, marking its seventh consecutive year of audience growth since its launch.

According to preview key art released by NBC News, it appears “Current” will use a a blue and gold palette with wave elements. Tiny dots, dashes and laser line accents are also shown in the key art.

With the launch, NBC News says it will offer live programming from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every weekday, a tally it says is higher than any other news streaming service.
