Creamsource adds compact Vortex2 and Vortex2 Soft

Creamsource has announced two new additions to its Vortex Series of cinematic lighting: the Vortex2 (V2) and Vortex2 Soft (V2S).

These compact fixtures maintain the CreamOS workflow, colour science, rugged build quality, and IP65 weather resistance of the original Vortex line, now in a smaller 160-watt form factor.

The Vortex2 model features a 20-degree beam angle for more directional lighting, while the Vortex2 Soft offers a 110-degree spread for broader, softer coverage.

Weighing 6 kilograms without the yoke, the V2 Series is designed for easy transport between truck packages, small studios, and fast-moving setups. The fixtures include built-in LumenRadio, etherCON, pass-through DMX, and pass-through power connections to support efficient daisy-chaining and multi-unit configurations, particularly for longer linear arrays.

New rigging features for the V2 Series include a centre mount gooseneck and a front-load accessory mounting system carried over from the Vortex Soft Series. Additional rigging options include multiple LNX and 3/8-inch rigging points, and a new 3-pin XLR DC input compatible with portable battery operation using existing battery systems. The fixtures also support a range of lenses, modifiers, and rigging accessories.

The V2 Series is part of the broader Vortex ecosystem, sharing the CreamOS operating environment, networking, colour management, and control workflows, including the Slyyd app and Creamsource Webserver. The system uses the Creamsource Colour Management System (CCMS), which operates in CIE xy colour space to maintain colour accuracy and consistency across the Vortex lineup.

Something compact enough to move around easily, but still very much part of the Vortex family in the way it behaves on set.”

The Vortex2 Series is available now, with shipping expected to begin in August 2026.
