Video: ‘Current’ debuts on NBC News Now with bold, flowing take on default VSEs

A supercut from the premiere of “Current with Christine Romans” on NBC News Now Aug. 3, 2026. The show uses a blue and yellow color scheme with wave elements as a primary visual, though much of the look is also kept in a cleaner, more geometric style.

Anchor Christine Romans sits in front of virtual set extension backgrounds in Studio 3A, which depict an open, atrium-like space with an additional curved staircase.

Elements from other VSEs used in the space by fellow NBC News Now programs, including a camera-right spiral staircase and curved wall camera left, are also incorporated.

One unique element that “Current” adds to its VSEs is the use of wavy orange and blue lines that meander across the virtual ceilings of the 3D spaces behind Romans and her guests.
