KBLR, the Telemundo affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada, has hired Alejandro Sánchez as a multimedia journalist for “Noticiero Telemundo Las Vegas,” effective Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.

Sánchez joins the NBCUniversal Local-owned station after working at KTLM Telemundo 40 in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, where he reported on immigration, public policy and community issues affecting residents along the U.S.-Mexico border.

His appointment brings additional international reporting experience to KBLR’s Spanish-language newsroom, including coverage of migration, elections and human rights across Latin America.

“Alejandro brings experience covering complex stories on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border and throughout Latin America,” said Johali Carmona, news director of Telemundo Las Vegas, in a statement. “He understands how national and international issues affect people at the local level, and we’re excited to have him bring that perspective to our viewers.”

Before joining Telemundo 40, Sánchez worked as an independent journalist, reporting from Miami, Florida, Uruguay, Mexico and the Darién region. His assignments focused on elections, migration and human rights.

He also contributed Spanish-language reporting to South Florida Media Network and worked as a producer for TelevisaUnivision.

Earlier in his career, Sánchez covered business and community developments for Capital Analytics and served as a researcher for the International Organization for Migration in Colombia.

Sánchez holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a master’s degree in political science from the University of West Florida, where his academic work focused on international affairs, geopolitics and comparative politics.
