CBS Miami announced the launch of “The Kickoff Show”, a weekly half-hour program covering high school, college and professional football across South Florida.
The program will debut Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET and air Thursdays for 18 weeks. CBS News Miami sports anchor Mike Cugno will host the show, which will preview upcoming games and feature interviews, analysis and stories about local players, coaches and teams.
CBS Miami will use its AR/VR studio to provide visual elements tied to its coverage of high school football, college football and Miami Dolphins games.
“As the exclusive home of the Miami Dolphins, launching a weekly football show is a natural extension of our commitment to delivering exceptional sports coverage,” Kim Voet, president and general manager of CBS Miami, said. “Football is woven into the fabric of South Florida. From championship-caliber high school programs and nationally recognized college programs, to one of the NFL’s most storied franchises, there is no shortage of great stories to tell.”
The program expands CBS Miami’s local football coverage, which also includes its partnership with the Miami Dolphins and its role as presenter of the Nat Moore Trophy, an award recognizing a top South Florida high school football player.
“Football is the beating heart of sports in South Florida, and fans deserve a show that’s just as passionate about the game as they are,” Cugno said. “As the only news program exclusively dedicated to the sport in the region, we’re creating a destination for fans to connect with the hometown heroes, elite athletes, coaches and powerhouse programs that make South Florida one of the premier football communities in America.”
