CNN unveils newest election coverage ‘tool’ to show virtual convention

CNN has a new gimmick for tonights Super Tuesday coverage… the virtual Republican Convention.

This won’t possibly look stupid on air, be made fun of by Jon Stewart or leave the anchors in a state of “WTF.”

From the preview, it looks like Tom Foreman is locked in a room with a bunch of Sims. In reality, he is on a chromakey, something NBC News and Fox News have used for years in election coverage. Virtual sets are nothing new, but this one may take the top spot for over the top and gimmicky. We’ll see later tonight. Video preview after the jump.
