NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 have named Ana Hernandez news director, with her new role set to begin April 20.

She will report to David Manney, vice president of news for both stations, the company said.

Hernandez joins the New York duopoly from Philadelphia, where she served as news director for Telemundo 62, WWSI, since 2019 and led weather planning and production across the WCAU and WWSI partnership.

“Ana is a creative, dynamic journalist and newsroom leader with deep experience guiding coverage of national stories and community issues – in two languages and on multiple platforms,” said Dave Manney, vice president of news for NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47. “I’m excited for the leadership she’ll bring to our growing bilingual newsroom and our coverage on TV, streaming, social, and digital.”

During her tenure in Philadelphia, Hernandez oversaw coverage of major stories including Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria, the COVID-19 pandemic, New Jersey elections and the manhunt for accused killer Luigi Mangione. She previously served as assistant news director at WWSI beginning in 2017.

Before moving to Philadelphia, Hernandez spent 15 years at Telemundo Puerto Rico in San Juan as an executive producer and producer. She began her career in 2001 as a producer assistant at Univision Puerto Rico.

“This is an exciting and truly incredible moment for me. For nearly a decade, I have worked alongside an amazing group of journalists at WWSI and WCAU who pour their heart and soul into their work, serving a community unlike any other. I have learned so much from them,” said Hernandez. “This opportunity allows me to fulfill a lifelong dream. Walking into 30 Rock on my first day as News Director will be a meaningful moment—one I approach with humility, honor, and gratitude.”

NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 operate as part of NBCUniversal Local, serving English- and Spanish-speaking audiences across the New York tri-state region through broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.
