Brandon Schaff is returning to Texas, joining KVUE in Austin as a reporter after about a year at WTHR in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Schaff announced the move Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. The new position also reunites him professionally with his fiancée, KVUE meteorologist Kristin Walla, who joined the ABC affiliate in May 2026, MySanAntonio.com reports.

“My next chapter takes me back to Texas. I’ll be rejoining my fiancée Kristin Walla as a reporter at KVUE in Austin,” Schaff wrote on social media. “I can’t wait to call the Lone Star State home again!”

Schaff previously worked as a sports anchor and news reporter at KIII in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he and Walla met while working at the station.

Before returning to Texas, Schaff spent about a year at NBC affiliate WTHR. A Chicago-area native, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington and a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois.

Schaff thanked viewers and colleagues in Indiana as he announced his departure.

“I’ll always appreciate the Hoosier hospitality everyone showed me while I was here,” he wrote. “I’ll be a Hoosier for life!”
