Rob Elmore, president and general manager of ABC-owned WTVD in Raleigh–Durham, North Carolina, will retire at the end of November 2026, concluding a 45-year career in television news.
Elmore announced his retirement in October 2026 after serving as the station’s top executive since May 2020. His departure will end nearly three decades of service to the Raleigh-Durham market across two separate periods at WTVD.
“Leaving a career and a company that have meant so much to me is bittersweet,” Elmore wrote in an email to employees obtained by the News & Observer. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together, and even more grateful for the friendships and memories I will carry with me.”
Chad Matthews, president of ABC Owned Television Stations, will oversee the selection of Elmore’s successor.
Elmore spent 17 years as the news director in a previous stint before heading west to serve as vice president of KABC in Los Angeles, California.
He returned to WTVD in the top role in 2020.
