WHNT in Huntsville, Alabama, reported weather-related technical difficulties that prevented the CBS affiliate from broadcasting its regularly scheduled newscasts Friday.

The Nexstar-owned station, which brands itself as News 19, notified viewers that conditions in the area had disrupted its broadcast operations.

“News 19 is experiencing technical difficulties due to weather conditions in the area,” the station said in a statement. “For now, we are unable to broadcast our newscasts on WHNT. We are working hard to get back on air as soon as possible.”

The station directed viewers to its digital platforms for continuing news coverage while crews worked to resolve the technical problems.

WHNT said viewers could access breaking news and local headlines through its website, whnt.com, its WHNT 19+ streaming app and its Facebook page.

The disruption temporarily interrupted the station’s ability to deliver its regular television newscasts, although its online news operations remained available.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” the station said.

WHNT did not specify the nature of the technical failure, which equipment or facilities were affected or when normal newscast broadcasts were expected to resume.
