SipMX platform aims to unify broadcast and Pro AV protocols under single controller

Contributed Content / Press Release March 24, 2026

SipRadius will introduce the SipMX Alliance at NAB Show 2026.

The SipMX platform is designed to enable media orchestration and multi-protocol interoperability based on open standards such as NMOS, RIST and IPMX.

SipMX allows broadcast and professional AV facilities using SMPTE ST2110, IPMX, NDI, and Dante/AES67 protocols to be discovered, routed, and managed from a single controller. This approach aims to remove operational boundaries between systems that may share the same IP infrastructure but use different protocols.

The initiative was started by Sergio Ammirata, Ph.D., chief scientist at SipRadius and creator of the librist library, which is a reference implementation of RIST. The SipMX Alliance invites device manufacturers, software vendors, system integrators, and cloud providers to collaborate on shaping the platform’s specifications and promoting adoption. Membership in the Alliance is free.

SipMX supports NMOS discovery, crosspoint routing, receiver monitoring, and enterprise security features including a built-in certificate authority, EST server, zero-trust device onboarding, and public key authentication. The platform is designed to work across various network environments, including firewalls, cellular connections, and cloud or hybrid architectures.

According to Ammirata, SipMX aims to enable management of diverse equipment—from NDI cameras in a church to Dante networks on corporate campuses and SMPTE ST2110 in broadcast facilities—within a unified platform. The system is built on current accepted standards and is intended to adopt new standards as they develop.
