PIX11 debuts new morning set

WPIX-TV, the CW affiliate in New York City, debuted a new set just in time for Halloween.

The set is a partial refresh of the evening news set the station installed in September 2009 with additional pieces added. Both the original set and refresh are from FX Group.

The evening news anchor desk is gone and the wood tones replaced with modern off-whites and grays. The set’s four, linked vertical flat screens remain for video loops and topical graphics.

Overall, the new look better matches the station’s other on-air area, which is situated in front of a control room.

In addition to being used for interviews, the area was also used for a Halloween fashion show.

New additions to the studio include textured walls and curved rectangular frames with brightly-colored duratrans.

The set also includes a sit-down interview area.

An additional reporting location includes a vertical flat screen backed with one of the studio’s up-lit textural wall.
