Philadelphia ABC debuts on air overhaul

New graphics package

The graphics, meanwhile, feature curved 3D elements carried over from the station’s previous look but adds stacked horizontal banded elements.

The station also kept true to its previous blue and gold color scheme, though some teals and lighter shades of yellow and blue are mixed in, along with red for live bugs and breaking news.

Also sticking around are the station’s “Circle 6” logo and the bold, condensed typeface for the “Action News” logotype.

The horizontal banding is echoed in the lower third insert graphics’ box, rectangular look that includes a bug in the lower right and branding or topical space to the left and the ticker at the bottom of the screen.

Most of the rectangular elements also include a thick stroke divider or outline.

The graphics package was created in house, according to Matt Dennis, executive producer and project manager.

The new packages represents a significant streamlining from the station’s previous look, which featured a mix of multicolored solid and rounded rectangles that often resulted in a bit of a haphazard look.
