‘CBS This Morning’ changes up look for new anchors’ debut

CBS This Morning” debuted its new anchor team of Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil, Monday, May 20, 2019, along with an on air update that has a simpler look with nods to its previous design.

The show continues to be produced from Studio 57 a the set that the network built for the current iteration of the show debuted in 2012.

“CBS This Morning” introduced a new graphics package that combines a white, a fresh blue shade and bright yellow with a simplified and less boxy layout.

The show’s main logotype remains in Proxima but the title card now makes the letters “CBS” significantly larger with “This Morning” placed next to it on two separate lines.

This old ‘CBS This Morning’ title card, taken from Friday, May 17, 2019’s broadcast, is an example of the show’s old New York City-centric look with glassy animation, strong angles and boxes.

One element that was not redesigned, however, was the “EyeOpener” stinger and bump, which still features the glassy rotating CBS eye look.

In addition to the new graphics, the show also appears to be making a more prominent on air effect to brand itself as “CTM” — similar to how its competitor “Good Morning America” uses its initials, “GMA,” on air as well.
