We believe this is part of the “refresh” MSNBC is beginning to roll out.
On TVNewser it was mentioned that, “One insider describes it as a ‘refresh’ and says the changes are subtle. Another insider notes the colors — ‘like every look we’ve ever had meshed into one.’” This slight tweaking fits that bill. The background has been redone and now features reds, blues and this tan color. The full screen graphic is now much cleaner. All day the lower third during normal news hours (not including Morning Joe) has used this tan color. It appears their political graphics may become their new full time graphics. We will see if more is coming or if this is just tweaking before a total new look.

Also, other slight changes appear on the MSNBC bumpers and opens.
It also appears MSNBC now has a wall in Washington D.C. for David Shuster that looks like the New York newsroom.
“Slight” might be overstating it a bit… =)
The “wall” that Shuster sits in front of is actually just an image on a rear projection screen. They used to have a looped shot of the monitor bank on the backlit wall on the other side of the studio.
