Ross Production Services upgrades remote production with Calrec

Contributed Content / Press Release May 22, 2026

Ross Production Services has replaced one of its three 60-fader Argo S consoles at its Connecticut remote production center with an Argo M console. This console now serves as the main audio mixing console in Hypermax-1, a new remote production truck that debuted at the Gerling booth during NAB 2026.

Lance Bracale, director of engineering at RPS, said the Argo M console offers greater flexibility for remote production workflows without losing any capabilities. The Argo M has 36 faders and is designed to align with the Brio consoles used in RPS’s smaller trucks.

Bracale explained that the Argo M connects to RPS’s RP1-enabled REMI-only units and integrates with the Ross Ultrix platform to multiplex and demultiplex audio streams back to Connecticut when an RP1 unit is unavailable. The console is self-contained with built-in input/output, allowing it to be used offsite for full remote mixing.

RPS’s Connecticut facility, developed during the pandemic, supports remote production workflows for major broadcast networks and league startups. The company uses Calrec consoles exclusively across its distributed audio infrastructure, including Brio consoles in several Sprinter van units, two flypacked Brio units, an Apollo console in the RPS 9 truck, and RP1 remote production engines in DISTRO REMI-only mobile units.

Bracale noted that Calrec’s True Control 2.0 software, soon to be added, and the ability to connect RP1 units for remote workflows are key features. He added that using Calrec consoles across the fleet simplifies operations, allowing audio engineers to operate any truck or control room without additional training.

The Hypermax-1 truck has bookings for various events, including sports broadcasts, music festivals, government debates, and rodeos. The Argo M console was integrated into Calrec’s existing IP ImPulse backbone, enabling it to be commissioned and operational within two days. The console was used live for a Versant Basketball game the day after commissioning.

Calrec technical sales manager Rob Lewis highlighted the scalable relationship between Calrec and RPS. He said flexible equipment allows production companies to maximize resources and produce more content. Lewis added that this flexibility supports experimentation with content in a fragmented media landscape.
