NBC News has launched NBCPolitics.com, a politically-oriented section of MSNBC.com.

The new section closely follows the standard MSNBC.com layout and serves as a portal of sorts to the various NBC political reporting, including the First Read blog.

The NBCPolitics.com page also integrates some interactive features such as a Voter Confidence Index graph.

In addition to the page itself, NBCPolitics.com also has the obligatory Facebook and Twitter presences.

It is interesting to note that this section doesn’t take the video-focused design used by MSNBC and NBC News shows. That said, the site’s unique custom domain name does follow the recent trend of shifting away from using subdomains under MSNBC.com for shows and individually branded sites.
