NBC announces post-‘Sunday Night Football’ episodes of ‘Tonight Show’

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” will air four special Sunday episodes this season following NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” coverage and local news.

The first special is scheduled for Sept. 27, 2026, after the Los Angeles Rams-Denver Broncos game. Sylvester Stallone and Luke Bryan are among the guests scheduled to appear.

Additional Sunday editions are planned for Nov. 8, 2026, following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Chicago Bears game; Nov. 15, 2026, after the Pittsburgh Steelers-Cincinnati Bengals matchup; and Jan. 10, 2027, following the NFL’s final regular-season game. Teams for the Jan. 10 game have not been determined.

“We’re thrilled to be teaming up with NBC Sports again this year for these Sunday night episodes,” showrunner Chris Miller said in a statement. “In the past year we’ve earned over 900M social views from our Sports guests and coverage and are already on track to cross 1B views for this current year.”

“The Tonight Show” also will air a regularly scheduled episode Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, after NBC’s NFL Kickoff game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, a rematch of Super Bowl LX. The game begins at 8:20 p.m. Eastern on NBC and Peacock.

Matthew McConaughey and Alix Earle will appear on the Sept. 9 edition, with Riley Green scheduled to perform.

The late-night program returns from its end-of-summer hiatus Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, with Sandra Bullock and Mike D as guests.

NBC said “The Tonight Show” has more than 100 million followers and subscribers across digital platforms. The network said the show’s summer television audience is up 18% from last year, while digital and social views have increased 15% this year.

“The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” is taped at Studio 6B at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City and airs weeknights from 11:35 p.m. to 12:35 a.m. Eastern and Pacific on NBC. Episodes also are available on Peacock.

The program is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels serves as executive producer. Miller, Gerard Bradford and Jimmy Fallon are producers, with Miller serving as showrunner.
