7 ways stations name their morning newscasts

The word “Sunrise” is often coupled with the station’s main newscast branding for morning news.

Although “EyeOpener” is not nearly as popular as some of the other names shown here, the name is used by a variety of stations across the country. Despite its subtle reference to the CBS eye, one of the largest stations that uses it, WCVB in Boston, is actually an ABC affiliate. 

It’s also worth noting that “Eye Opener” (notice the lack of space) is a segment on “CBS This Morning.”
