Peter Alexander has departed NBC News to join MS NOW as a daytime anchor, where he will host the network’s 11 a.m. ET hour.
The move follows a previously announced schedule shakeup at MS NOW, with Stephanie Ruhle moving to daytime to anchor the 9 to 11 a.m. ET block with Alicia Menendez following at 12 p.m.
Alexander was the co-anchor of “Saturday Today” and chief White House correspondent at NBC News, concluding a 22-year tenure with the network.
Alexander will be based in Washington and serve as chief national reporter and breaking news anchor in addition to his daily hosting duties, the network said.
“With the midterm elections quickly approaching and the 2028 presidential election already on the horizon, we look forward to him building a daily relationship with the loyal MS NOW audience,” Rebecca Kutler said in a memo to staff.
Alexander said his decision to leave NBC News was driven in part by a desire to spend more time with his family and “challenge himself with something new.”
“I’ve been away from home more than 80 nights in the last seven months. More than 200 Friday nights away from my family in the last seven years,” Alexander said. “So, in this limited window before my daughters lose interest in hanging out with me…I’m eager to carve out a better balance between my personal and professional lives.”
Alexander joined NBC News in 2004 and became co-anchor of “Saturday Today” in 2018. He was named co-chief White House correspondent in 2021 and covered major domestic and international stories, including presidential administrations, global conflicts and Olympic Games.
At MS NOW, he will also contribute to programming across parent company Versant’s portfolio, including sports and lifestyle content.
