NBC built on the flowing, textural look it introduced for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris to create a cohesive design system for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina.

The package reflected the Games’ split geography, balancing Milan’s modern style with the alpine character of Cortina and surrounding mountain venues. Marble textures served as a unifying visual element across platforms, paired with gold accents and regional materials that referenced fashion, stone and wood.

The design extended across 2D, 3D and cel-animated elements, drawing from mid-century modern influences, Italian travel posters and Futurism to convey motion and energy. Athlete photography and video, captured near Los Angeles, were integrated throughout opens, interstitials and insert graphics to create a more personal connection with competitors.

NBC also introduced a resort-style venue map system to help viewers navigate event clusters, prioritizing clarity over strict geographic scale. Insert graphics maintained a restrained look with beveled, squared corners and heavy use of typography, while pictograms appeared with less emphasis than in 2024. Sub-packages supported late-night programming, a dedicated ice hockey look built around white marble textures and gold geometry, and a separate “Gold Zone” package for Peacock that featured colorful textures and animated shapes used alongside the main system.
