WSOC Channel 9 Eyewitness News debuted new motion graphics on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, part of Cox Media Group’s comprehensive station group redesign that blends contemporary flat design with sophisticated 3D elements.
Developed by the CMG Graphics Hub at WSB in Atlanta and built on the Chyron Prime graphics platform, the package includes full-screen animated elements like opens, stingers, and wipes, emphasizing angular and diamond shapes with arrow elements. While opens generally use a subdued color scheme with 3D-rendered station logos, other elements like the “Right Now” stinger offer more text-focused designs with blue and silver shapes within a central diamond.
The package offers a variety of layouts for lower thirds, on-the-screen tickers, and weather displays, blending flat designs with 3D graphical tie-ins.
