Fox names VP of news apps

In a sign of the growing importance of apps in the television news industry, Fox Television Stations has named a new VP in charge of nothing but apps.
Jose Rios, currently a vice president and news director at the network’s Los Angeles O&O, will start in the new role June 1.
Rios’ duties will include coordinating all digital news applications for FTS, including mobile applications. Â In addition, he will work with the stations to develop news talent and indentify social media opportunities,” the company said in a statement.
The new position reports directly to Fox Television Stations CEOÂ Jack Abernethy.
