Univision hubbing weather for news and radio operations

Univision launched its national weather hub today, aimed at delivering weather forecasts to the company’s TV and radio stations, along with digital properties and national network.

Based out of Univision’s Houston facility, which also houses affiliate KXLN, the weather hub boasts 3,000 square feet of space on the third floor with approximately seven employees.

Pulso Design, who is a favorite designer of the network, created the design of the weather center and workspace, which includes a large 3×3 weather wall, weather desk, 84″ touchscreen and augmented reality area.

Operationally, it’s not yet known if the weather hub will result in the elimination of local weather talent jobs at Univision’s various affiliates. The hub will provide greater technology and a unified voice amongst the broadcasters properties, establishing a true Spanish-language weather service.
