Evening newscasts dispatched to California wildfires

ABC World News Tonight” also originated from Ventura, or, as the announcer dramatically put it “Reporting tonight from the fire line in Ventura County, California.”

Like his counterparts at the peacock and Tiffany network, anchor David Muir was positioned in front of burned out wreckage, but was notable for also included two destroyed vehicles in frame that Muir referenced.

Muir looked more trendy with a dark shirt and rolled up sleeves.

ABC did offer up a unique view of the fires, thanks to its local affiliate KABC’sSky Map 7,” technology that allows map points to be overlaid on live images from its helicopter. 

To illustrate the extent of the fires, reporter J.T. Alpaugh first showed a computer generated topographical image of the municipalities affected by the blaze before switching to a view that showed nothing by clouds and smoke with the city names still visible, illustrating not only the size of the fire, but also its affect on visibility.
