NewscastStudio is pleased to announce the results of our “Set Madness” competition to determine the 2011 set of the year.
This year’s competition was tough — with so many great sets nominated that we decided to switch from the typical single-round voting structure to multiple rounds.
And the winner?

Turkey’s NTV, a massive set designed by Clickspring Design. The high-tech and sleek set includes numerous creative uses of projection and flat screens as well as modern backlit and metal elements. A main anchor area boasts a broad glass-fronted anchor desk positioned in front of a wide screen that is used for both branding and topical purposes. The huge ceilings in the space are maximized with tall glass and backlit elements and a double-stacked array of large flat panels that create the impression of a bay of windows.

We’re also pleased to award the honor of best local set to Devlin Design Group’s WSYR-TV.
WSYR-TV was a consistent strong performer in our competition, garnering the most votes of any other local set in the running.
The WSYR-TV set is a study in bold blues and modern accents and also gives the station a wealth of flexibility with the ability to expose the newsroom as an alternate background and two standup positions and mobile set pieces. Backlit elements are also a key feature of the set.

Congratulations to all the winners. We’re looking forward to seeing what 2012 brings in the world of set design!

Clickspring does some really great work – you should see what they did for channel 10 in Israel.
