Hearst’s New York-Vermont station moves into new home

Hearst’s NBC affiliate in Plattsburgh, New York, and Burlington, Vermont, has moved into a new broadcast facility and debuted a new set.

The new station is located in South Burlington, Vermont, in the Technology Park development. 

Along with a switch to high definition, the station unveiled a new set from Devlin Design Group.

The set features a large curved video array as well as faux stacked stone accents and segments fronted with a bold chevron pattern.

A weather center, with an on-camera presentation area, is located behind sliding glass panels, while additional standup venues with video panels complete the space.  

WPTZ, which brands on air as NBC5, took over a portion of a six-acre multi-tenant building at 30 Community Drive, with it sometimes listed as occupying the probably-not-so-coincidental Suite 55.

According to a floor plan posted on the park’s website, an IT company called SymQuest occupies Suite 5.

The building is also home to a Planet Fitness as well as a Keurig Green Mountain data center and Ben & Jerry’s office.

WPTZ divided up its space into studio, newsroom and other workspaces and features a reworked entry area that includes a Kestrel Coffee Roasters retail store (how convenient is that?).

The facility also serves as an operations base for the WNNE, the market’s CW affiliate and MeTV subchannel.
