CNBC is closing its Hong Kong bureau and eliminating several international programs as part of a broader restructuring of its operations in Asia and Europe.

The changes include the immediate cancellation of the weekday programs “Inside India,” “The China Connection” and “Europe Early Edition.” Feature series “CNBC Meets” and “Built for Billions” will end after their current broadcast runs.

CNBC informed employees of the changes Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, saying in an internal memo that it had reviewed its international programming, commercial viability and allocation of resources over several months.

“As our production needs in Asia evolve, we have made the difficult choice to close our Hong Kong bureau,” the company said in the memo.

CNBC will retain production hubs in London, Singapore, Beijing and Abu Dhabi, which will provide studio, editorial and technical support for its international operations.

The restructuring will also eliminate positions across several teams and locations. CNBC told the South China Morning Post that a small number of employees were affected by the Hong Kong closure.

Programming from the bureau ended Wednesday.

A CNBC spokesperson said the closure was part of wider changes to the network’s international programming and production strategy and was not prompted by changes in Hong Kong’s operating environment.

CNBC will continue covering Hong Kong, China and the broader Asia-Pacific region through its Singapore operation and journalists based in Beijing.

The international restructuring comes after Comcast completed the spin-off of CNBC, MSNBC (now MS NOW) and several other cable networks into Versant Media Group earlier this year. CNBC had previously undergone newsroom layoffs following the separation.
