E.W. Scripps Co. plans to launch a streaming version of its Scripps Sports Network, extending the brand beyond its over-the-air broadcast footprint.

The company said the network will be available as a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, complementing its distribution across local broadcast stations. The move is intended to reach cord-cutters and digital-first audiences alongside traditional TV viewers.

Scripps Sports Network was originally launched to aggregate live sports rights across Scripps-owned stations and affiliates. The addition of streaming distribution expands that strategy into connected TV platforms and mobile viewing.

“Our goal is to make live sports more accessible to more fans across the country,” said Brian Lawlor, president of Scripps Sports. “Free, over-the-air television remains a powerful platform for reach and discovery.”

Scripps said the streaming network will carry a mix of live games, shoulder programming and sports-related content, leveraging rights agreements with leagues including the Women’s National Basketball Association and the National Women’s Soccer League.

The company said the FAST offering will provide advertisers with additional digital inventory while maintaining the broad reach of broadcast.

The launch comes as broadcasters increasingly seek to extend sports rights into streaming environments to offset declines in the traditional pay TV bundle.
