Roku announced the launch of its Howdy subscription streaming service as a mobile app in the United States, expanding access to the low-cost, ad-free offering on iOS and Android devices.
The app is now available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, providing subscribers with access to a library of films and television programming, including romantic comedies, medical dramas and classic titles. The company said the service is priced at $2.99 per month.
“At a time when most things are getting more expensive, Howdy is designed to make premium, ad-free streaming more affordable and accessible for all viewers,” said Gil Fuchsberg, president of subscriptions, partnerships and corporate development at Roku. “Launching the Howdy mobile app on iOS and Android enables us to continue growing the service beyond the Roku platform, bringing Howdy’s unique value and quality entertainment to even more viewers.”
Roku said the service includes thousands of titles and more than 10,000 hours of programming licensed from FilmRise, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Discovery, along with select Roku Originals. Titles scheduled for April include “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family,” and “When Harry Met Sally.”
The mobile launch follows Howdy’s earlier expansion to Prime Video, where it is offered as a subscription add-on among more than 100 services in the U.S.
Roku said the rollout is part of its broader strategy to grow platform revenue through both first- and third-party subscription services. The company said its platform reaches more than 125 million people in U.S. households daily, citing Nielsen’s “The Gauge Report” for January 2026.
