OpenDrives expands data services with new hybrid cloud-edge product
OpenDrives has announced the launch of OpenDrives Edge, a hybrid cloud-edge performance accelerator.
The product is designed to provide distributed teams with local-speed access to video and rich media data without the latency, high costs, and complexity associated with traditional hybrid or cloud-only workflows.
OpenDrives Edge acts as a bridge between on-premises edge locations and the cloud, enabling fast data movement and orchestration. The system caches data locally after a single pull, allowing users to work at local network speeds. Changes made by users are automatically synchronized back to the central data hub, which serves as the source of truth.
The product targets organizations managing large shared datasets across distributed environments, including media and entertainment, corporate creative teams, and other data-intensive industries. Use cases include multi-site collaboration, hybrid cloud workflows, and post-production pipelines. OpenDrives Edge supports policy-based data tiering to keep frequently accessed data close to users while moving less active data to cost-efficient storage tiers.
OpenDrives Edge is available now through the company’s Atlas data storage and management platform’s Containers Marketplace. It connects to major public clouds such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, with plans to support Oracle Cloud and other providers in the future. Additional capabilities, including enhanced caching and multi-site control, are planned as part of OpenDrives’ broader data services roadmap.
OpenDrives will demonstrate Edge at the NAB Show 2026 in two locations within the West Hall: public demos at the Sports Business Hub pod W3443-E and semi-private meetings at the Cabana W1158.
