Antonia Hylton to anchor new MS NOW weekend program

MS NOW is adding a new weekend program anchored by journalist Antonia Hylton, expanding the network’s lineup with a three-hour block focused on politics, culture and field reporting.

“The Assignment with Antonia Hylton” will debut Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, and air Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Eastern.

The New York-based program will feature interviews, analysis and reporting on political and cultural stories, with an emphasis on how national developments affect communities and individuals.

Hylton joined MS NOW in April 2025 as a reporter and co-anchor of “The Weekend: Primetime.” She has also filled in as an anchor across the network’s morning, daytime and primetime programming.

Her recent work includes reporting for MS NOW’s “Cities Under Siege” series, which examined the effects of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies on families and communities across the country.

Before joining MS NOW, Hylton earned a Peabody Award and Scripps Howard Award for her work on the podcast “Southlake,” which was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in audio reporting. She received an Edward R. Murrow Award for the podcast “Grapevine.”

Hylton was named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list in 2020. Her 2024 book, “Madness: Race and Insanity in a Jim Crow Asylum,” became a New York Times bestseller.

The program is the latest addition to MS NOW’s expanded schedule. In June, the network introduced several new shows, including “Money, Power, Politics with Stephanie Ruhle,” “On the Line with Alicia Menendez,” “The Moment with Katy Tur,” “The 11th Hour with Ali Velshi” and “Connect with Jacob Soboroff.”

MS NOW said the new programs posted year-over-year audience gains in July, according to the announcement. The network also said it ranked second among cable networks in August and recorded its eighth consecutive month of year-over-year growth.

Joy Fowlin will serve as executive producer of “The Assignment.”
