NBC News Now is launching a new two-hour program with business correspondent Christine Romans.
The program, slated for a summer 2026 launch, will air from 10 a.m. to noon Eastern. Once this program debuts, the network will stream live for 14 hours a day, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Breaking news coverage is also live on an as-needed basis outside of those hours.
Romans is also being elevated to chief business correspondent for the network, according to a memo co-signed by Rebecca Blumenstein, president of editorial for NBC News, and Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice president of programming.
The move marks another high-profile correspondent taking on a key role on the FAST, which NBC says has posted “rapid” growth in a memo announcing Romans’ new program. Other names who started on linear programming also appearing on the news streamer include Kate Snow, who co-anchors “NBC News Daily,” which is simulcast on NBC News Now and its linear broadcast network, and Tom Llamas, who also anchors the network’s signature evening newscast “NBC Nightly News.”
A name for the program was not announced, but the memo noted that more details about the show will be shared as the launch nears.
Full text of the memo:
Dear all,
As NBC News Now continues its rapid growth, we’re delighted to announce the expansion of our daily lineup and a new show that will be hosted by Christine Romans.
NBC News Now will soon span 14 live hours a day, from 7am to 9pm ET on weekdays, delivering more original programming than any other streaming news service and further strengthening our position as a leading destination for live, breaking news.
At a moment when economic news and the forces shaping the global economy are increasingly central to the daily news cycle, we see a clear opportunity to deepen our coverage as markets open and top stories take shape. With that in mind, we’re pleased that Christine will anchor a new two-hour program beginning this summer on NBC News NOW at 10am ET. She will also take on a new role as Chief Business Correspondent, continuing to work closely with the Business and Economy Unit. The role is a well-deserved recognition of her standing as one of the most trusted voices in financial journalism.
Christine brings deep expertise and clarity to complex, fast-moving stories, from inflation and government shutdowns to the global impact of war and the forces shaping the modern economy. She has a track record of landing interviews with leading CEOs and influential voices across a range of industries. An experienced anchor, Christine previously led CNN’s “Early Start” before joining NBC News, where she has covered major breaking news and financial stories at the start of the day.
Our momentum at NBC News NOW continues to build. The first quarter was our most-watched in a year, and March marked our strongest month since June 2025. Last week, our coverage of the Artemis landing delivered NBC News NOW’s largest Friday primetime audience on record. Audiences are increasingly turning to us during breaking news, where our ratings often outperform more established cable news channels.
As part of this next phase of growth, NBC News NOW will soon move into Studio 3A at 30 Rockefeller Plaza—a state-of-the-art space designed to elevate our live programming and support the future of streaming news.
We’ll have more to share in the coming months about the show’s launch. Please join us in congratulating Christine on this exciting next chapter.
